Robotesting, are you ready for that yet?

New technology like AI and Robotics, advances very rapidly. In order to be able to define the required quality and to test for it, I have created a model with 6 angles of view towards quality of new technology. Based on this model testers can define the quality attributes they need to test different aspects of AI and robotics. The testing itself is different from traditional testing. Machine intelligence makes it hard to define expected outcomes. Since the machine is learning, the correct behavior will not be one specific predefined possibility, but will evolve over time. Therefore, testing will be more challenging. On the other hand, intelligent machines will prove to be very useful tools to improve the capabilities of the tester, both in test preparation and test execution. In this presentation I’ll give you insight in how to use a mix of “old knowledge on testing” and newly created approaches, methods and techniques, including machine-intelligence-driven testing, to make sure that quality-levels are met, risks are mitigated, and we can use AI and robots with confidence.
Bio
Rik is a testing expert from the Netherlands. His career started in 1980 when he learned that a COBOL program isn’t finished until there’s a testset with it. Today Rik is a well-appreciated presenter, trainer, author, consultant and coach in the world of testing. Rik's presentations are always appreciated for their liveliness, his ability to keep the talks serious but light, and his use of practical examples with humorous comparisons. Rik is an accredited trainer for ISTQB, TMap- and TPI- certification training courses, but also he has created and delivered many bespoke workshops and training courses. For example on Agile and DevOps testing. Apart from his work as a management consultant at technology leader Sogeti, he volunteers as the chairman of TestNet (with 1900 members, this is probably the largest independent non-profit association of testers in the world) and as a workgroupmember (and former board-member) of ISTQB. Rik has published many articles, blogs and papers on testing. He contributed as an author or projectleader to the following books: TestGrip (2007), TMap NEXT BDTM (2008), TPI NEXT (2009), PointZERO (2012), Quality Supervision (2012), Neil’s Quest for Quality (2014). On top of this he made smaller contributions to 12 other books. In May 2018 the new book “Testing in the digital age; AI makes the difference” will be published.
