An interactive, hands-on two day workshop to try out and share a variety of exploratory approaches to software testing.
Exploring helps us to understand a system as it truly is, rather than as we want it to be. In this workshop, we’ll trigger unexpected behaviours, refine our models, and judge the problems we find.
The workshop will let you:
Some exercises use custom built software to allow a positive exploration experience in a relatively abstract, game-like context. Others use real-world software with live bugs.
We’ll develop our insights by following each exercise with a conversation structured to help us recognise useful frameworks and to put those disciplines to use in the real world.
Participants are encouraged to record their methods, conclusions and insights, to share and contrast testing approaches, and to illustrate their processes with actions and data.
We will test software, and participants should bring their laptops to use and share. We use custom-built exercises that can be run without installing executables or library files.
