Internet of Things (IOT) is Here – Are you Ready?

Friday, 9/6/1714:30Cup Hall

Over the years. the testing was a very smooth task, less challenging and enjoyable. With advent of mobile technology, the testing got a new life, new challenges. While testers tried their best to come in terms and became developers to handle it, Internet of Things arrived. IoT, as it is popularly called, is not just testing the application, its testing the experience. Over the time, the number of sensors soared to billions. We see an unstoppable influx of new devices hitting markets every day. The software also are no more dumb. They are now intelligent software. The test environments have also become dynamic. Given all these, it is correct to say that the Testing of applications has been replaced by Testing of Experience. New challenges are thrown at us each day. Creating a test plan for such testing, creating test cases, creating the test environment and performing these tests is a very tedious task. Testers have to evolve a long way now, and that too very quickly.

This led me to think an effective way to test Iot, which I intend to present here in this conference. I will be talking about a comprehensive QA strategy to cover the depth and breadth of IoT testing. The strategy includes the types of testing, test lab setup, testing tools and simulators that should be deployed. Considering the difficulties in generating big data from the thing in a testing environment, it is crucial to evaluate data simulation and virtualization techniques. I will also try to explain how we will use a metrics-driven exhaustive test execution to achieve a stable system.

In this presentation, I will share my experience testing internet of things. We take a look at all aspects of IoT testing, challenges to implement it, and efforts taken to work on it. I will also explain how to create an effective strategy to test the Internet of things.
